BLUE SKY THINKING
BLUE SKY THINKING. MY VERSION.
Blue Monday, the so named most depressing day of the year, got me thinking. It got me thinking about ‘the blues’. I realise that I actually get quite passionate about colours. I have favourite colours, the pictures I take are often snapped because of colours, I stock (but have currently sold out off) a book dedicated to colour. Early last year I wrote about ‘green’ (and all that is contained in that five letter word) and I recently put an image of ‘orange’ on my Instagram (just in celebration of it’s positivity) . Colours are quite emotional really, but especially blue, we talk about ‘feeling blue’, a gentle nod to feeling a little low. The funny thing is though, as I thought about this and I looked back through my pictures nearly ALL the blues that I’ve photographed are sky and sea. And they’re totally uplifting, not blue at all…
So, I thought that rather than focus on the darkness that the 'Winter Blues’ elicits I would lift the mood with images of the big blue. This is my personal version of Blue Sky Thinking…because sometimes you just need a little lift.
