STAYING PUT
WINTER
This is the weather for staying in, wrapping up, making-like-hedgehogs and hiding from the elements. Add books and blankets, a cosy fire and some candle light and you’ll be ticking all the boxes. However…
…the reality is much less dreamy. In our house the blankets are poached by the people doing homework or working from home, they’re annexed by teenagers, slung around shoulders and discarded on the back of desk chairs, heaped at the end of beds and screwed-up on the sofa.
Real life. The migrating blanket, exactly as it should be.
…B U T we can keep on nostalgically dreaming of those days of fires and books and blankets. For now that’s what we intend to do.
These pages are from possibly the loveliest children’s book ever: The Winter Bear by Ruth Craft & Eric Blegvad. It seems to be out of print now, please please someone reprint it.
